Development scheme helps dental graduates get a foot in the door to private practices

Dentex is offering an exciting new scheme for recent dental graduates considering a future in private practice.

The year-long proven model has seen 5 graduates join the scheme during the initial trial, with all completing the course and transitioning to become associates in fully private practices.

Those fortunate to secure one of the limited course places are given access to a high-quality private working environment and the associated materials and labs.

In-house training and mentoring from experienced and successful private clinicians is supported by online training and enrolment on to a leading restorative training course (worth £6,500) – all included in the scheme.

A competitive salary, paid leave, GDC annual retention fees and indemnity cover round off the key benefits of the role.

Initially developed by David Heath, Dentex partner at Shine Dental Care in Mansfield, the scheme is now being rolled out at Derwent Street practice in Derbyshire, with limited positions available.

David says: “While similar training schemes exist, we recognised a gap for those graduates looking for a foothold in the private sector.

Joining the scheme is a commitment and investment in themselves, but with the confidence that experienced colleagues are on hand to guide you through some of the difficulties and pitfalls.

We develop graduates to the level where they are able to perform brilliantly for us and patients as a private practitioner.”

David has been a Dentex partner for a year. The co-ownership model allows practitioners the time to mentor their teams and grow their business while still practising clinical dentistry, without the day-to-day administrative workload.

Practitioners can interact with other practice partners and be part of a wider support group, sharing best practise and advice on ways of working, training and collaboration.

Recent dental graduates wishing to apply must be fully registered with GDC and have the right to work in the UK.
